Lübeck – The new drug detection system, Dräger DrugTest 5000, detects six different substance categories simultaneously within just a few minutes. The system can be deployed for both stationary or mobile use and therefore can be used in a wide range of applications.

A fast and reliable check for suspected drug abuse: the Dräger DrugTest 5000 System

The Dräger DrugTest 5000 analyzes oral fluid samples as a preliminary test for traces of opiates, cocaine, cannabinoides, amphetamines and designer drugs and tranquillizers of the Benzodiazepine group. The system is extremely sensitive and can detect even small traces of drugs in the oral fluid samples. Interference with other substances is almost excluded. Compared to the oral fluid test in the laboratory the Dräger DrugTest 5000 achieves an overall accuracy of more than 95 percent, exceeding thereby the known state of the technical art.

Because the system is mobile it can be used during police road checks or in penal institutions. It is also suited for stationary use in occupational medicine, industrial security, clinics, or facilities for drug addicts.

Particularly user-friendly

The system consists of two main components, the Dräger DrugTest 5000 Test Kit and the Dräger DrugTest 5000 Analyzer. After the protective cap has been removed from the oral fluid collector, the test subject places the collector into his mouth. When sufficient oral fluid has been collected for analysis, the built-in indicator will turn blue. The test administrator then inserts the test cassette into the analyzer, which after a few minutes displays all detected substance groups on its color display. Audible signals accompany the whole process.

Dräger DrugTest 5000 is clearly far more discrete and hygienic for both the test subject and the test administrator than alternative procedures e.g. urine sampling. The continuous observation of the sample collection is also easier and unobtrusive, thus effectively precluding reducing any possible sample manipulation or contamination by the test subject.

Uncomplicated data management

The Analyzer stores the number, progression and results of up to 500 tests. User and device errors are also documented and can be read. An infrared interface permits the system to be connected to a mobile printer to print reports immediately if required.
